Home Wireless Network: Wireless speakers

Wireless speakers enable the use of speakers without connecting them to an amplifier via cables. Some types of speakers run on batteries and use a wireless connection to receive an audio signal from an amplifier via a special converter. These speakers can be mounted anywhere in range, however the sound quality is not as good as wired speakers.

Recent developments have lead to hardware manufacturers producing wireless media centers. These devices transmit audio or video via wireless signals, which can be received via compatible hardware such as wireless speakers. Some wireless speakers can draw power from an active power supply, resulting in increased audio reproduction quality.
